Hourly to Salary Calculator (and Salary to Hourly)

To convert hourly pay to an annual salary, multiply the hourly rate by hours per week and by weeks per year. At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 weeks, that is $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000. To go from salary to hourly, divide the annual salary by the same 2,080 hours. The calculator below also shows monthly, biweekly and weekly pay.

Hourly to salary and salary to hourly formulas

  • Annual salary = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year
  • Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year)
  • Monthly = annual ÷ 12 · Biweekly = annual ÷ 26 · Weekly = annual ÷ 52

Full-time is usually 2,080 hours (40 × 52). Part-time and four-day schedules change the base, so enter your own hours and days.

Hourly wage calculator for paid time off and unpaid days

Paid holidays and PTO are part of your pay, so they do not shrink an annual salary. They do cut the hours you are at work, so the same salary spread over fewer hours is a higher effective hourly rate. Unpaid days do the opposite when you start from an hourly wage: those hours are not paid, so annual pay drops.

Weeks per year defaults to 52. Use a lower number only if the position is paid for fewer weeks, for example a seasonal schedule.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert hourly to salary?

Multiply the hourly rate by the hours you work each week, then by the weeks you are paid in a year. $30 an hour at 40 hours for 52 weeks is $30 × 2,080 = $62,400. If you take unpaid weeks off, subtract those hours first.

How do I convert salary to hourly?

Divide the annual salary by the paid hours in a year. $78,000 ÷ 2,080 hours is $37.50 an hour. If the job is 45 hours a week, divide by 2,340 instead and the hourly rate is $33.33.

How many working hours are in a year?

A full-time year of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 paid hours. Subtract paid holidays and PTO if you want the hours actually worked: 10 paid days off at 8 hours each leaves 2,000 hours.

Do paid holidays and vacation change my annual salary?

No. Paid days off are paid, so annual pay stays the same. They lower the hours you actually work, which raises your effective hourly rate. The calculator shows that second number when you enter paid days.

What is $25 an hour as an annual salary?

At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, $25 an hour is $52,000 a year, $4,333 a month, $2,000 biweekly and $1,000 a week, before taxes.

Does this include overtime?

No. The conversion uses straight-time hours only. For hours over 40 in a week, use the overtime calculator, because overtime pay is figured on top of the regular rate.
