Best Aesthetic Equipment Extended Warranties (2026): 8 Compared
Extended warranties and service plans for aesthetic lasers and devices: 8 manufacturer and independent options compared on coverage, response time and terms.

For med spa owners and practice managers. Updated October 2, 2026 · Prepared by Prospyr. Prospyr makes practice software, not device warranties or service plans, and none of the companies below is a Prospyr product. Each summary reflects what the company publishes on its own website, checked October 2026. Coverage, response times and prices change and vary by device, so get the full contract in writing before you sign.
What does an extended warranty for an aesthetic device cover?
An extended warranty, usually sold as a service contract or protection plan, pays for repairs on a laser, IPL or energy-based device after the manufacturer's limited warranty ends. Depending on the tier, it can cover parts, labor and travel, scheduled preventive maintenance, a priority response time, software updates and sometimes a loaner system. Most plans for aesthetic devices come from the manufacturer itself; a smaller group of independent service companies sell maintenance contracts or arrange third-party warranties. What separates them is what is excluded (handpieces, consumables, wear parts), how fast a technician arrives, and whether the plan transfers if you sell the device.

How we chose this list
We looked for companies that publish a service contract, protection plan, maintenance plan or warranty option for aesthetic lasers and energy-based devices, then checked four things a practice manager can confirm before signing:
- Who performs the work. Manufacturer-certified engineers, independent technicians, or a partner the seller picks.
- What the plan includes. Parts, labor, travel, preventive maintenance, software updates, loaners.
- A stated response time or schedule. A published response window or maintenance frequency.
- Fit for med spas. Plans that apply to the aesthetic devices med spas actually own.
Manufacturer plans come first because, for a device still in or just out of warranty, the manufacturer is usually the only seller of a true extended warranty. The order is our editorial view, not a measure of results. If your device is already out of coverage and broken, our lists of aesthetic laser repair services and handpiece refurbishment services may be the faster route.
1. Candela
Candela sells ServicePlus Protection Plans that, in its words, provide certified service coverage after the limited warranty expires. It also offers preventive maintenance plans and as-needed service agreements, backed by technical support and regional field service engineers in the US.
What stands out:
- Three tiers. Essential (basic coverage, a maximum of 12 months), Gold (sized to your usage) and Platinum (for high-volume users). Candela notes not every plan is offered for every device or country.
- Plan benefits. It lists priority response, genuine Candela parts and tools, scheduled maintenance, technical training and remote technical support, with payment plans, multi-product plans and multi-year options.
- Provider listing. Practices with an active plan get a "Serviced by Candela" icon on Candela's Find a Treatment Provider listing and for their own website.
Right for: owners of a GentleMax, Vbeam or other Candela device whose limited warranty is ending. Ask: which tier covers handpieces and free or discounted parts, travel and labor, since Candela says these vary by plan.
2. Lumenis
Lumenis sells service plans for its systems, including LightSheer and M22, performed only by its own certified service engineers with OEM parts. It reports more than 40 years of service experience and an engineering team with an average tenure of 14 years.
What stands out:
- Published inclusions. Lumenis describes comprehensive coverage that includes certified parts, wear and tear, labor and travel, with preventive maintenance included in all plans.
- Other listed benefits. Priority response, a loaner system for extended repairs, access to refurbished parts, required software updates, and in-service training. Its page footnotes some of these, so confirm which apply to your plan.
- Range of plans. It offers a variety of plans to fit different budgets and risk levels.
Right for: practices running a LightSheer or M22 that want the most inclusive plan in writing. Ask: which footnoted benefits (loaner, refurbished parts, training) your device and plan level actually include.

Book a Demo3. Cynosure Lutronic
Cynosure Lutronic services its own devices through a US field team it describes as more than 35 service vans and 5 warehouses, with engineers averaging 15 years of tenure and annual product certification. It states a 24–48 hour technical response time for warranty or contract customers and runs a live call center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Right for: practices with a Cynosure or Lutronic device that care most about a written response window. Ask: what a contract includes beyond response time (parts, labor, preventive maintenance, handpieces), since its service page does not list plan tiers or prices.
4. Cutera
Cutera handles device errors, preventive maintenance, and new or existing service contracts through its customer support team; "Service Contract Coverage" is a separate request option on its support form. The site does not publish plan tiers or prices.
Right for: owners of a Cutera excel V, xeo or similar system who want manufacturer coverage. Ask: which handpieces are covered, whether coverage can be added after the original warranty has lapsed, and what inspection that requires.
5. West Coast Laser Service
West Coast Laser Service is an independent medical laser repair and maintenance company serving Southern California "and beyond." It offers customized maintenance contracts, on-site and depot repair, preventive maintenance, parts, and technical training, and states its technicians have more than 25 years of experience and manufacturer certifications.
Right for: Southern California practices with several brands of device that want one local service contract. Ask: which brands and models it covers under contract, what response time it commits to, and whether parts are included or billed separately.
6. Focus Laser Marketing
Focus Laser Marketing sells new and pre-owned lasers and, through its warranty page, matches practices with partner warranty providers. It says it can arrange extended warranties for certified pre-owned devices and for owners whose manufacturer warranty has expired, with coverage levels from basic parts replacement to full service, calibration and preventive maintenance. You submit the device brand, model, serial number and condition and receive a quote.
Right for: practices that bought a used device or let OEM coverage lapse. Ask: the name of the company that actually underwrites and services the warranty, and get that company's contract, not a summary.
7. Laser Service Solutions
Laser Service Solutions (LSS) in Paulsboro, New Jersey, is an independent aesthetic laser repair, rental and parts company. Its preventive maintenance service, recommended once or twice a year depending on usage, covers optics cleaning and alignment, cooling system checks, wear part replacement, fluence calibration, safety interlock testing, and a performance report on request.
Right for: practices with more than one brand of device that want scheduled maintenance from a single independent vendor. LSS also handles repairs and rentals, so one shop can cover downtime. Ask: whether it offers an annual contract price, and what repair discounts come with one.
8. Aesthetic Service Group
Aesthetic Service Group takes a different approach: instead of selling a warranty on a device you own, it places new and refurbished demo devices in your practice on a monthly subscription that includes service and repairs. Its published placement pricing is a $10,000 start-up fee and $1,250 a month, with on-site and unlimited virtual clinical training, "comprehensive service coverage," marketing support, and an ownership path after the initial term (as of October 2026). It says "We own the tech; we fix the tech."
Right for: practices adding a device that would rather not take on repair risk at all. Ask: the length of the initial term, what happens at the end of it, and what the buyout costs.
Questions to ask any extended warranty or service plan provider
- What is excluded? Get the exclusions list in writing; handpieces, tips, lamps and other consumables are often treated differently from the console.
- What is the response time, and is it guaranteed? Ask whether a 24- or 48-hour response means a phone call or a technician on site.
- Is preventive maintenance included, and how often? Ask how many visits a year and what each one checks.
- Do you provide a loaner during long repairs? A week without a device can cost more than the plan.
- Can coverage start after the factory warranty has lapsed? Many sellers require an inspection or recertification first; ask what it costs.
- Does the plan transfer if I sell the device? Transferable coverage can raise resale value.
- Who actually does the work? For third-party plans, get the name of the service company and confirm it repairs your brand.
Where Prospyr fits
A service plan protects the device; your practice software shows whether the device earns enough to justify it. Prospyr's analytics can break out revenue by service and provider, which helps you weigh a plan's price against what a week of downtime would cost, and inventory management tracks the tips and consumables most plans exclude. For upkeep between visits, see our guide to building an equipment maintenance schedule. Or book a practice demo.
Frequently asked questions
Is an extended warranty on an aesthetic laser worth it?
It is worth pricing for any device that does daily treatments, because a single major repair can cost thousands of dollars and days of canceled appointments. Compare the annual plan price with the device's monthly revenue and the cost of the repairs it is most likely to need. For a low-use device, paying for repairs as they come may cost less.
Can I buy an extended warranty on a used laser?
Often, yes, but rarely on the same terms as a new device. Manufacturers may require an inspection or recertification before they will cover a pre-owned system, and some independent sellers, such as Focus Laser Marketing, say they arrange warranties for pre-owned devices. Read the full contract before you pay.
What is the difference between a manufacturer service plan and a third-party warranty?
A manufacturer plan uses the manufacturer's own engineers and genuine parts, and keeps your device eligible for software updates and manufacturer support. A third-party plan is usually cheaper and may cover several brands, but the quality depends on the service company behind it. Candela, for example, compares its plans against third-party coverage on its service page.
Do service plans cover handpieces?
Sometimes, depending on the plan tier. Handpieces, lamps and tips wear out with use, so many plans treat them as consumables or cover them only at higher tiers. Ask for the handpiece terms in writing; if yours is excluded, a handpiece refurbishment service is the usual fallback.
