Cartessa Aesthetics has introduced its Prisma Intense Pulsed Light system in Canada, expanding availability of a device that had previously been approved only in the US.

The company said Prisma combines IPL with radiofrequency (RF) and electro muscle stimulation (EMS). According to Cartessa, the system is designed to address discoloration as well as signs of aging including inelasticity and reduced muscle tone.

Cartessa described Prisma as the first IPL device in its product portfolio and said the system was first introduced in the US in the fall of 2024. The company said providers have replaced other IPL systems with Prisma because of its ability to clear pigmentation and vascularity, while also offering added non-invasive modalities for customization and flexibility. It also said treatments are more comfortable than other IPL systems.

"While we know IPL is a cornerstone treatment for our providers, we waited for a device that offered the absolute best in IPL versatility and comfort. PRISMA met our standards and with the added modalities, is positioned to redefine 'photofacials' as the market knows them", shared Gabe Lubin, Cartessa Founder, Principal and Board Chairperson.

Prisma is manufactured by DEKA. In announcing the Canadian launch, Cartessa said the device joins its existing Canada-approved offerings, including Everesse, Ultraformer MPT, TetraPro CO2 with CoolPeel, HELIX, Motus AZ+ and ONDA PRO.

Cartessa Aesthetics describes itself as a North American aesthetics company. DEKA M.E.L.A., the manufacturer of Prisma, is part of the Italian group EL. EN. and has more than three decades of laser experience.
