RICHMOND, Ky. - A spa in Madison County is bringing a frosty innovation to Kentucky, allowing visitors to embrace winter all year long. House of Beauty Medspa, located in Richmond, has unveiled the state’s first snow room, an inventive take on cold therapy that is attracting attention nationwide.
The snow room is a custom-built space where light snow falls gently in a controlled environment, creating a serene atmosphere. "A snow room is a cold therapy experience where the temperature is kept controlled, and light snow falls in the room in a very calm and relaxing environment", explained Jaclyn Johnson, the spa’s owner.
A Global Inspiration Comes to Kentucky
Johnson, inspired by snow rooms she encountered globally, decided to introduce this unique therapy to her spa. The room features a ceiling-mounted snow generator that can be fully customized to adjust the flake size and speed. With a steady temperature of about 34 degrees, the snow room offers a less intense option compared to other cold therapy methods, while still delivering significant health benefits.
"It reduces inflammation in the body, it's really good for muscle recovery, and it helps to improve circulation", Johnson shared. She also noted the energizing effects of the experience. "I find it really invigorating, it wakes up all your senses."
Relaxation Meets Rejuvenation
The spa owner emphasized her goal to make the snow room a relaxing retreat for guests. "I want it to be relaxing, I want it to be a place where you can leave all your worries at the door and be refreshed", Johnson said.
For anyone seeking the benefits of cold therapy in a tranquil setting, this snow room offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the magic of falling snow without the hassle of shoveling. It’s a place where chilly temperatures aim to warm the heart.
