Total Beauty Network has appointed founder Tony Rechtman as CEO, returning him to the top job as the Australian-owned beauty company manages a leadership transition.
Rechtman officially resumed the role on August 3, replacing Liz Webster, who had served as CEO for the past two years. The company said he will lead the business while it searches for a permanent successor.
The appointment marks a return for Rechtman, who held the CEO position until July 2024, when Webster took over and he moved into the role of Executive Chairman.
TBN thanked Webster for her contribution and said it wished her well in her next chapter.
"I’m looking forward to working closely with the team again, and I want to thank Liz for everything she’s brought to TBN, we wish her all the best", Rechtman said.
"We’re walking into a big year: Designer Brands turns 20, and Inika Organic keeps adding to its global award cabinet. My focus is backing our brands and our pharmacy and retail partners through it, while we run a considered search for our next permanent CEO."
Portfolio and brand milestones
Founded by Tony and Sharon Rechtman in 2004, TBN was established with the aim of challenging the idea that affordable cosmetics could not compete with prestige alternatives.
Its first brand, Designer Brands Cosmetics, was built around that proposition and has since developed a significant presence in Australian community pharmacy.
"Sharon and I created Designer Brands to challenge the misconception that affordable makeup couldn’t match the quality of high-end cosmetics", Rechtman previously told Retail Beauty.
According to figures provided by TBN in 2024, Designer Brands was selling more than three million products annually. The company’s portfolio now includes Designer Brands, colour-by-DB, Raww and Inika Organic.
Rechtman’s return comes ahead of Designer Brands’ 20th anniversary in September. TBN said Circana data it supplied showed the brand has been Australia’s number-one cosmetics brand in community pharmacy for the past decade, excluding Chemist Warehouse and Priceline.
