For plastic surgeons, practice administrators and surgical practice owners. Updated October 22, 2026 · Prepared by Prospyr. Prospyr makes practice software, not consulting services, and none of the firms below is a Prospyr product or partner. This list compares nine plastic surgery consultants: firms that help aesthetic surgical practices convert more consultations, train patient coordinators, fix operations and staffing, tighten revenue and coding, and prepare for a sale or partnership. Each summary reflects what the firm publishes on its own website, checked October 2026. Fees, scope and results change, so confirm everything in writing before you sign.

What does a plastic surgery consultant do?

A plastic surgery consultant is an outside advisor who helps a surgical practice run and grow the business side: turning inquiries into consultations and consultations into booked surgery, training the patient care coordinator and front desk, designing staffing and workflows, reviewing revenue, pricing and coding, and planning an expansion, a med spa wing or an exit. The best firms start with your numbers, such as inquiry-to-consult rate, consult-to-surgery conversion, revenue per consult and days to surgery, and leave behind systems your team can run without them.

Plastic surgery practices differ from med spas in ways that matter here: longer decision cycles, higher-value quotes, deposits and surgical scheduling, and often a reconstructive or insurance side. A consultant who has worked inside surgical practices will know those differences.

How we chose this list

We started with firms that name plastic surgeons or surgical aesthetic practices on their own websites, including firms already on our plastic surgery patient coordinator training list and patient coordinator sales training list. Then we checked four things a surgeon or administrator can verify before a first call:

  1. Surgical experience. Does the firm describe work with plastic surgery practices specifically, not only med spas?
  2. Defined scope. Does it say what it works on: consult conversion, coordinator training, staffing, revenue, coding or transitions?
  3. Named people. Is there a named founder or consultant with stated experience?
  4. Terms. A published price, a free first call or a clear diagnostic step.

We left out marketing agencies, which we cover in our plastic surgery marketing agencies list, and firms whose main product is practice software. The order is our editorial view, not a measure of results.

Questions to ask any plastic surgery consultant

  1. How many plastic surgery practices have you worked with in the last two years? Ask for two references with a practice like yours.
  2. Which numbers will you change, and how will we measure them? Inquiry-to-consult rate, consult-to-surgery conversion, revenue per consult, days from consult to surgery.
  3. What do I keep at the end? Scripts, SOPs, dashboards, hiring guides and training recordings.
  4. Who does the work? The founder or a team member, onsite or virtual, and how often.
  5. How are you paid? Flat project fee, monthly retainer or a share of results. Get the term and notice period in writing.
  6. Do you take vendor referral fees? Ask whether any software, device or marketing company you recommend pays you.
  7. Can you work with our surgeon's schedule? Training only sticks if the surgeon is part of it.

Where Prospyr fits

Most consulting work ends in new consult scripts, follow-up rules, deposit policies and KPIs, and those only stick if your practice software can run and report them. Prospyr supports plastic surgery practices, including surgical and OR scheduling, with lead management, two-way texting and follow-up messages for coordinators, deposits, aesthetic charting and analytics on one patient record, so a consultant can measure conversion from real numbers. Prospyr doesn't do insurance billing. To see how it works, book a practice demo.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a plastic surgery consultant cost?

None of the firms on this list publishes a full engagement fee. Program prices are sometimes listed for training products, such as ACG Practice Partners' coordinator cohort and Catherine Maley's Converting Academy, which our coordinator training list compares. Full consulting projects are usually quoted after a discovery call or diagnostic.

What is the difference between a plastic surgery consultant and a marketing agency?

A marketing agency brings in inquiries through your website, SEO, ads and social media. A consultant works on what happens after the inquiry: how quickly and well your team responds, how the consultation runs, how quotes and follow-up are handled, and how the practice is staffed and managed. Many practices need both.

Should a plastic surgery practice hire a patient coordinator trainer or a full consultant?

If inquiries are healthy but surgeries are not booking, start with coordinator training. If the problems span staffing, workflows, finances and growth, a full practice consultant is the better fit. Our coordinator training list covers the first option.

Who helps a plastic surgeon sell or value a practice?

Some consultants here, including Shorr Solutions and Predictable Patients, list practice sales, valuations or exit strategy. For an independent number, see our valuation firms list and exit planning advisors list.

Does a surgical practice with its own operating room need a different consultant?

Often, yes, for the facility side. Accreditation surveys and surgery center operations are specialist work; see our accreditation consultants list and ASC management companies list.
