Average Med Spa Revenue: What the AmSpa Data Shows (2026)
Average med spa revenue is about $1.3M to $2.0M a year per AmSpa's recent reports. See the sourced figures, why they differ, and how to compare yours.

The average med spa brings in roughly $1.3 million to $2.0 million a year, depending on which edition of the industry data you read. The American Med Spa Association's (AmSpa) 2024 State of the Industry report put average annual revenue at $1,398,833, up from $1,307,587; its 2022 report put it at $1,982,896. In monthly terms, that's about $109,000 to $165,000. These are averages across practices of every size and age, so a single-location med spa in its second year shouldn't expect to match them, and a multi-provider practice in a large metro may sit well above them.

AmSpa builds the report from a survey of med spa professionals and sells the full version ($995 for non-members as of October 2026, included with its paid membership tier). The public recaps we read don't state the number of respondents, so we can't tell you the sample size. If you buy the full report, check its methodology section before you lean on any single number.
Why the AmSpa numbers don't line up
The 2022 report's average ($1.98 million) is higher than both figures in the 2024 report ($1.31 million and $1.40 million). The recaps don't explain the gap. Averages from voluntary surveys move when the mix of practices that respond changes: a few more large multi-location groups lifts the average, a few more new single-provider practices pulls it down. AmSpa's own counts show the industry adding about 1,600 locations between 2022 and 2023, and the 2024 report says 18% of med spas opened in 2023. Lots of first-year practices in the pool would pull an average down even if established practices grew.
The practical answer is to treat the published figures as a range, not a target. $1.3 million to $2.0 million a year is where the average med spa has landed across AmSpa's recent editions.
A quick cross-check: visits times spend
Revenue is visits multiplied by what each visit is worth, so you can sanity-check the averages with AmSpa's own visit and spend data (illustrative, our math):
- 2024 report: 245 visits a month × $527 × 12 months = $1,549,380 a year
- 2022 report: 283 visits a month × $536 × 12 months = $1,820,208 a year
Both land inside the published range. The same math is the most useful way to read your own numbers: if you're below average, it's either visits, spend per visit, or both. A practice at 180 visits a month and $527 a visit would bring in about $1.14 million a year; getting to 245 visits at the same spend adds roughly $411,000.

Book a DemoMed spa revenue vs day spa revenue
Day spa figures get mixed into med spa searches, but they're different businesses. The International Spa Association's 2026 US Spa Industry Study, conducted by PwC and covering 2025, counted 22,060 spas with $23.5 billion in revenue and $110 average spend per visit at day spas ($123 across all spa types). AmSpa's average med spa visit, at $527, is roughly 4.8 times the day spa figure.
The two studies also count differently. ISPA classified 8% of its spas (1,820) as medical spas; AmSpa counted 10,488 med spas. Use AmSpa's figures for a medical practice and ISPA's for a day or resort spa, and don't compare across them.
How to compare your med spa's revenue fairly
The industry average blends single-provider start-ups with nine-location groups (AmSpa's 2024 report says multi-location operators average nine sites). Before you compare, put your numbers on the same footing:
- Per location, not per company. If you run two sites, compare each one. AmSpa's 2022 report gives a single-location monthly average of $121,632, about $1.46 million a year.
- By age. A practice in its first 12 to 24 months is still filling its schedule. Compare year two with year one before you compare with the industry.
- Per provider hour. Revenue divided by provider hours worked tells you more than total revenue, because it separates "not enough providers" from "providers not busy enough." There's no published med spa average we could verify, so track your own month to month.
- By service category. Injectables, devices, skin treatments, wellness and retail each have different visit lengths and product costs. A practice that leans on laser packages will look different from an injector-led practice at the same revenue.
- Repeat vs new. If AmSpa's 73% repeat-patient share holds for you, most of your revenue comes from people who already know you. A dip in rebooking shows up in revenue months before it shows up anywhere else.
Where revenue growth usually comes from
Revenue is visits × spend per visit, so there are only a few levers:
- More visits from existing patients: rebooking at checkout, treatment-based reminders (a neurotoxin patient around three months out), and memberships. See our membership guide and patient reactivation guide.
- More new patients: reviews, local search, referrals and paid ads, measured by cost per booked patient. Our guide on how to get more med spa patients covers each channel.
- Higher spend per visit: treatment plans built at the consult, pricing reviewed at least yearly (the price increase calculator shows how many patients you can lose before a raise costs you money), and retail tied to aftercare.
- More capacity: extra hours, rooms or providers when the schedule is already full at peak times.
Revenue isn't profit. A practice at $2 million with high product and labor costs can take home less than one at $1.2 million. Our guide to med spa profit margins covers the costs that decide what you keep.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a med spa make per month?
Based on AmSpa's recent editions, the average med spa brings in about $109,000 to $165,000 a month in revenue. AmSpa's 2022 report put the single-location average at $121,632 a month.
How much does a med spa owner make?
The public AmSpa summaries don't report owner income, and it depends on whether the owner is also a provider, how they pay themselves, and the practice's costs. Work it out from net profit: one M&A advisory firm writing for AmSpa says healthy med spa net profit is at least 20% of revenue. See our profit margin guide.
What is the average revenue per med spa patient visit?
AmSpa's 2024 report puts average spend at $527 per visit, down slightly from $536 in the 2022 report.
How many patients does a med spa see per month?
AmSpa's 2024 report found an average of 245 patient visits a month. The 2022 report found 283 non-surgical aesthetic visits a month. Visits aren't unique patients; one patient can visit several times a year.
Does AmSpa publish revenue by state or city?
No. AmSpa says its report covers national data and doesn't break results down by state or city.
